    Upcoming Schedule Changes

Due to some unforeseen changes concerning the teams competing in the EPYWL along with a few new opportunities for our team, there will be some changes to the schedule coming shortly.

Here is what we know so far:

December 5th - Phillipsburg (away) is canceled.  Phillipsburg has dropped out of the league.  This week will officially be a bye week, but we are investigating other opportunities to get our team on the mat.

January 3rd - Our team has been invited to participate in a dual tournament @ Lehighton.  We would be wrestling a couple of teams not in the EPYWL league, which is a great opportunity for us.  More details will follow shortly.

January 16th - The dual with East Stroudsburg North has been changed to January 17th.  Arrive time has also been updated to 11:30am with weigh-in time at 12:00pm.

As soon as some of these changes have been finalized, we will hand out updated schedules.

    Week #2

After a great start in Week #1, practices will continue on Monday, November 2.

On Monday, each wrestler will receive a copy of the 2009-2010 Rules & Guidelines along with a sign-off sheet.  This sheet must be signed and returned to a coach by the end of practice this week.  Make sure both parents and wrestlers read and understand these rules prior to signing off.  If you have any questions concerning these rules, please contact a coach prior to signing-off.

We will also be handing out flyers concerning something new for this year - our 1st annual “Bring-a-Friend” contest.  This flyer will explain the contest rules in detail.

    “New Parent” Information

If you’re the parent/guardian of a child who is thinking about the sport of wrestling for the first time, you may have heard some misconceptions about the sport.

Because scholastic wrestling does not receive a great deal of attention from the sports media and does not have professional ranks that sports such as football, baseball, or basketball do, many myths concerning the sport of wrestling are never challenged.

Being involved with wrestling for a number of years, I know I’ve heard some interesting ones, such as:

“I don’t want my son to start jumping off his bunk-bed like it was a wrestling ring.”

“I don’t want my son to starve himself and loose a lot of weight”

    “Wrestling is dangerous.”

Many of these and other misconceptions can be answered at the following link.
